On behalf of Sports Medicine Australia (SMA) and the Conference Committee we would like to invite you to attend the 2003 Australian Conference of Science and Medicine in Sport. As the only multi-disciplinary National Sports Medicine Conference in Australia, this event provides a unique opportunity to learn about the latest progress in research and clinical knowledge in all spheres of sports medicine and science.

The theme for the Conference is "Tackling the Barriers to Participation and Performance". The program will address barriers to participation and performance in sport, especially focusing on those caused by injury and obesity.

This year the program will include several outstanding speakers from Australia and around the world, who are leaders in sports medicine research and practice. There will also be two new presentation formats: a 'Hypothetical' to discuss “The Fat Australian: Who’s to blame” and a debate about the current physical activity guidelines for Australians. These events will bring together experts to debate a range of opinions in an entertaining and informative environment.

The Conference will be an exciting and congenial opportunity for delegates to discuss and explore innovative sports medicine techniques. There will also be opportunities for active and more passive leisure-time activities.
