Seminar What's new with the ankle? Mon 16 ACT SMA-ACT hosts an informative seminar titled "What's new with the ankle?" presented by orthopaedic surgeon, Dr Paul Miniter. Seminar GP Team: A sports medicine training program for doctors Wed 18 WA SMA-WA in conjuction with the AFL are offering doctors a unique opportunity to develop their skills & knowledge in sports medicine and experience firsthand what it is like to be the medical offiicer for the West Coast Eagles, the Fremantly Dockers & other elite sporting teams. The program is a combination of lectures, hands on team involvment and mentoring through clinical placement. The seminar will be held at Subiaco Oval, Perth commencing 7pm. Seminar What technology tells us about the demands of team sports Mon 6 ACT This seminar will present the latest research about the demands of team sports and how these demands are changing. GPS technology is used extensively in professional teams sports and this presentation will demonstrate how this understanding is beneficial to all levels of sport. Graduate Program Sports Health and Medical Law Mon 27 to Fri 1 May University of Melbourne The Law School at the University of Melbourne is running a graduate program in sports law, which is open to suitably qualified applicants who do not hold a law degree, as well as those with legal qualifications. This intensive course will be held over 5 afternoons, 1pm - 6.30pm, beginning 27th April. Teachers include Mr Hayden Opie, Associate Professor Peter Brukner and Dr Peter Harcourt. The primary focus of the course will be upon analysing the legal relationship between the sports medicine professional and the athlete-patient, especially in the context of team sports. Seminar The Athletic Hip and Groin Tue 19 WA This is the first "How I Treat" Seminars. Speakers will include; Dr Gerard Taylor, Sports Physician; Mr Ian Skinner, Orthopaedic Surgeon; and Mr Chris Perkin, Specialist Sports Physiotherapist. Whilst there are several common hip and groin conditions affecting athletes, this seminar will focus on Footballers Groin (Hernia and Osteitis Pubis) and the athletic hip including labral tears and FAI (Femoro Acetabular Impingement).
