Safer Sport Program

Some universities are now incorporating the Level 1 Sports Trainers accreditation into their Sports Medicine courses. Level 1 is the flag-ship course of the SMA's Safer Sport Program. Offered in Universities, it provides a good introduction to sports and musculoskeletal medicine. A typical Level 1 Sports Trainers course involves 16 hours of lecture and practical sessions in subjects such as management of specific sporting injuries, warm up, stretching and cool downs, taping and nutrition.
